Biography
David Michael Barrett is an award-winning author, screenwriter, playwright, and film producer based in Los Angeles. He is best known for the films Bad Actress, Such Good People, and Kiss Me, Kill Me—works that have screened at film festivals worldwide and earned multiple awards. His play Brentwood had its world premiere at Noah Wyle’s Blank Theatre Company in Hollywood. Barrett began his career in drama development at Warner Bros. TV, an experience that helped shape his distinctive, character-driven storytelling.
Originally from Seattle, Barrett now lives in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles with his husband, Mark Peters—an acclaimed QVC host—and their two labradoodles, Gershwin and Banksy. Barrett’s storytelling blends humor and darkness with a singular voice that is unmistakably his own. Drawing on years of experience in the entertainment industry, he crafts razor-sharp, emotionally charged narratives that dissect ambition, family, and identity in Los Angeles with with and unflinching honesty.
